Best of Bo-jol! (A Postscript)

I was browsing through my photo files yesterday when I saw the photographs I took when I was in Bohol last week, along with media “classmates”—we call ourselves the ‘Buang Club’.

I thought they were too good to be just left in the archives—as the lines I could very well share about each scene just were too interesting.

I was impressed with Tagbilaran City’s concern over its solid management problems. The city government Mayor Dan Lim has really worked hard in exploring probable sites, supporting and allowing more local businesses to thrive while inviting investors to dip their money in Bohol.

As we went around, I learned that many foreigners have invested locally because the economic environment and the local government’s support is business-friendly.

Sometimes, we try to analyze why other cities could always have an SM Department Store, a Gaisano Mall, et cetera. Malls in Zamboanga are practically locally-owned. And investors are not also finding their businesses to be thriving in the city. This perhaps should be looked into as a point of discussion in the City Council. Que pasa?

The tourism industry in the city needs a huge boost. A greater appropriation, perhaps, for the city tourism’s development should be considered. Zamboanga has a number of unexplored sites—and real cool, so to speak, to be at par with that of what Bohol has to offer, or even more.

Yes, there’s always the best of Bojol. It’s high time to see more of Zamboanga’s best—up to this time, the best we’re showcasing is not good enough. (Frencie L. Carreon)
